Strategies for Phase 2C

So you missed out on every one of the earlier Phases to get your child in the school you desire.  Now, you are faced with trying to succeed in the highly stressful Phase 2C.

While it is true that Phase 2C is stressful because everyone is trying to get into the very popular schools, and that everyone should just stick to the very sensible rule of thumb of going for the nearest school to their homes that are unlikely to feature balloting, we are KiasuParents afterall.  And KiasuParents don't go out without a fight, no matter how slim the chance.

PSLE standards are a runaway train that even Teachers can't cope with, so kids NEED tuition.

I have moved the petition to here. Here is the Facebook Page. People complain that we are a tuition/enrichment nation without evaluating the reasons for it. We are a tuition nation because PSLE standards behave like a runaway train that even MOE’s teachers cannot cope with, thus students need tuition.

Here's the 2010 edition of our annual Kiasu Analysis of PSLE results.

Finding #1 - Top Honors

Without a doubt, 2010 is likely to be etched in the annals' of Rosyth's history as the Year-When-We-First-Believed.   For not only did Alex Tan grab top honors for the school with his red hot T-score of 282, two other of his peers from Rosyth entered the national top 10 list too.  With this feat, Rosyth moved up 2 places from 5th position to be amongst the Big Three schools in KiasuParents.com's academic power rankings.

For a child who is unsuccessful in gaining a place in a school of choice at Phase 2C.

Announcement of Result: By Monday 23rd August 2010

Updated 10 Aug 2010. The 2010 P1 Registration Exercise is drawing to a close.  Phase 2C Supplementary will start soon.  Below is the list of schools still with vacancies sorted in descending order of TUR up to Phase 2C.

For a child who is ineligible for or unsuccessful in earlier phases.

Registration: Monday 2nd August 2010, Tuesday 3rd August 2010 and Wednesday 4th August 2010

Announcement of Result: By Friday 13th August 2010

Update: 27 July 2010

Updated 9 Aug 2010.  Phase 2C is completed.  2010 has been a most competitive year where over 80 schools require balloting in Phase 2C, most within 1km!

Registration for 2011 P1 - Phase 2B

For a child whose parent has joined the school as a parent volunteer not later than 1 July 2009 and has given at least 40 hours of voluntary service to the school by 30 June 2010; or whose parent is a member endorsed by the church/clan directly connected with the school; or whose parent is endorsed as an active community leader.

Registration: Thursday 22nd July 2010 and Friday 23rd July 2010

Announcement of Result: By Wednesday 28th July 2010

23 July 2010:

Phase 2B 2010 is over.  The only thing remaining is the balloting for those in the following school highlighted in RED.  A hearty congratulations those who managed to get into their desired schools in this round!  For those who have to sit through the nail-biting session of balloting, hang in there.  Even if you do not win the ballot, there's still a Phase 2C to try again!
